NovaPoint Group Partner Rackspace announces OpenStack

At NPG, we're big fans of the services of our partner Rackspace. Today they announced a big move towards to further support Open Source with there OpenStack^tm offering. OpenStack is an open source cloud platform designed to foster the emergence of technology standards and cloud interoperability.

Now users who put their instances of OpenERP or other applications in the cloud can take comfort in not being locked into a specific cloud vendor. We believe this will make the environment much more interoperable and give end-customers more options.

In recent correspondence from A. Lanham Napier, Rackspace's President & CEO, he answered the question "Why do this?".

"Historically, most cloud offerings have been built on proprietary or closed platforms that create lock-in and make migration difficult. With OpenStack, any interested party – including our peers, Solution Partners and customers – will be able to collaborate with us to author, improve and expand OpenStack technologies."

We like to hear this because we believe in the Exponential Power of Community - like what we've seen with OpenERP.
